Single Origin Coffee Beans is a small phrase with a big definition. The meaning is often simplified to a coffee that is sourced from one single producer, crop, or region of one country. Because single-origin coffee is traceable to a single place, they have a distinct flavor based on the growing and processing conditions of that region. The flavor of this coffee is heavily influenced by many factors including botanical variety, soil, climate, altitude, and shade. The beans are all sourced from the same country. You might have heard of Honduran, Colombian or Peruvian beans, for example. Nowadays, though, the term feels far too broad, almost more appropriate for a blend (don’t panic: we display the region of the country where the coffee is grown and the grower when possible). Think of a big country like Brazil: with its different microclimates, it’s only natural that there will be undeniable differences between beans that are harvested in northern regions and those in the south.
